There are many, many laws having nothing to do with government, that are useful to know because they tell you something about how the universe works. There are Newton’s laws of motion, the laws of thermodynamics, Boyle’s law, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, among dozens more. Most of these laws have been known for a long time, but it wasn’t until a mere nineteen years ago that Godwin’s Law was written.

Shared by ChaseYesterday in Physics someone’s phone went off to the tune of the Justice League. After the professor paused his lecture to acknowledge the phone, the kid answered his phone and replied, “The University is in trouble?! We’re on our way!” The kid stood up, ripped off his t-shirt, revealed the Superman costume underneath, and exclaimed “Super Friends, Assemble!” Scattered across the class of about 150, Batman, Wonder…
This is awesome. Why did this never happen in my classes.

I hope Hollywood is listening.
When everybody gets excited for ultra-gear thrillers like GI Joe, we get nervous. Techno-thrillers are brilliant when done right (think Casino Royale) but worse than awful when done wrong (think Firewall). Here are 20 tropes filmmakers should avoid.

A few months ago, a good friend of mine saw a test screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox (no ‘The’) and described it as very much the union between Roald Dahl’s story and Wes Anderson’s style. Now, it looks like the trailer up on Yahoo! confirms as much, and I actually find myself genuinely charmed by it — like, ‘now on my radar’ charmed.Shared by ryanruppe
