Finally got my bike from Eugene, OR this weekend.

It’s a Raleigh M80 I got when I was in middle school. One of the first things I can remember really lusting after, and wanting so badly.

Needs new tubes and a little bit of love (=WD-40 and a rag) before it’s ready. I also need a helmet and lock, but that can all be handled at REI tomorrow!

I CONSTANTLY hurt myself on McDonald’s 1980s Soviet-era probably razor-filled filthy not-made-for-children playground equipment, in particular Mr. Hamburger here, who’s true name escapes me. (Do you remember?) The little ladder you had to climb up might as well have been covered in oil, that’s how little traction it had.

I realize that a large number of my followers have no idea what this is, because they were born sometime after the Challenger explosion, possibly even post-GNR.  Trust me, kids, it was fun times at McDonald’s birthday parties in the early to mid 1980s!

Nora, I am guessing you have similar stores, my similarly situated friend? I feel the pain on your butt bruise - I busted my ass so badly on a flight of stairs at my favorite bar in college (completely trashed, oh yes) that I could not sit for the entire work week. I still remember the almost-black bruise on the center of my right cheek. I also had a spectacular fall off a bar stool in that same bar, a topic that still comes up in conversation almost ten years later. I have no idea what I wrote my senior thesis on. -M

Mayor McCheese! I may have bused my lip on his metal bars once or twice. Let’s also not forget the particular form one needed for those metal/aluminum-looking slides in summer either. Kids today, with their indoor play areas made of plastic. They’ve got it easy.

I remember this.  Once I turned six, I was too big for this thing and I would get stuck.  I am happy to report I never was surgically removed from this.

This was my favorite thing in the old McDonald’s playground. I have no idea why, it was basically just a giant child cage.

Awesome!

So if Scorsese’s starting a Sinatra biopic, I wonder if that means that he’s already finished the “Great Gatsby” remake with Vinny Chase….ah, fuck…

Actual Thought that crossed my mind when I read this. (via thegreg)

I have done the same thing. Entourage get all in my head and I get excited for Aquaman on DVD…
